CADKEY Workshop , the new, enhanced version of the company’s flagship CADKEY product, has been optimized specifically for manufacturing design engineers.
Built on a new architecture, CADKEY Workshop contains new functions and capabilities to help design tooling, machinery, fixtures, molds, dies,
and complex machines. As a point of clarification, though, CADKEY Workshop is a CAD product for manufacturing design, and not a CAM product, per se.
CADKEY (the company) says that CADKEY Workshop is well-suited for manufacturing organizations because most manufacturers receive
files from a variety of sources and systems, and they never know what type of file will show up. When geometry is exported from parametric
feature-based systems, all the proprietary “smarts” (constraints, parametrics, history data) are stripped from the model,
and what is left for manufacturing is pure geometry. Other feature-based systems cannot edit that plain geometry without their
own proprietary information being attached to it. CADKEY can edit the files because its core is pure geometry.
